Call centre -- Sunder Ramachandran
Call centre job
I recently finished my class 10th exams and would like to know if I can get a call centre job?
Blesse Leonard
Most call centres prefer to hire graduates, although there are some that even take undergraduates.
You should have finished high school to qualify for these openings.
So, finish your education and then you can find a job with a good call centre. Many of them would even fund your college education. So, it's worth the wait Blessse.
Part time option
I am a mechanical engineering graduate and would like to work part time in a call centre. Can you tell me which companies hire part time employees and what is the procedure for the same?
Karthik
There are many BPOs that hire employees on part time basis. You could search the daily newspapers for names of specific organisations.
The procedure is no different from that for a full time opening. You will be assessed on your communication skills in English, problem solving approach and the attitude to serve customers also known as service skills.
Moving from sales
I have been working as sales executive with a MNC for the last four and a half years.
Though I perform well, I am still stuck with the same designation. I would like to leave the job and try the BPO sector. What kind of options would be available to me?
Manish Panicker
You can look for a job in the BPO sectors as it offers fast growth opportunities to good performers.
You may have to start at the entry level, as BPOs look for industry-related experience while hiring for supervisory or managerial roles. Your background in sales would give you an edge. If you demonstrate consistent performance and an ability to lead people, you can become a team leader soon.
Improving performance
I am working as a call centre agent for the last eight months. Although my communication skills are good, I am not able to perform like others.
I feel that I am not fit for this kind of a job and want to quit.
Garima
Don't give up so soon as it has only been eight months. Try to identify the reasons for your average performance. Maybe you could improve your knowledge of the job.
Try talking to your team leader and seek his/her help. You can even listen to the calls of the other team members who are performing well and see what is working for them. Perseverance is the key, so if you keep working hard, your performance is bound to improve eventually.
