Karaikudi calling

The Karaikudi Food Festival at Hotel Casino gives you a chance to savour rare recipes

Enjoy Karaikudi cuisine at Casino Hotel's `Tharavadu' the multi cuisine restaurant. It takes 23 varieties of spices to make Karaikudi cuisine so sought after. But it is not only about the food. It is about the accompanying nostalgia for days gone by and for food that is wholesome and unpretentious. This also gives a chance to sample recipes that are not so easily available on the Internet or cook books. While the non-vegetarians have more to rejoice in Karaikudi cuisine, it offers quite a variety to the vegetarians as well. Milagai mandi, kaikari keerai mandi and parangikkai puli kari are some of them. For the die-hard non-vegetarians there is virundhu kozhi, mukkoli, kozhi vindhari, mutton chops, chicken and mutton biriyani. For the fish lovers there is Muttai kotha, meen puttu and kari podimas. Desserts like pal paniyaram, tirunelveli halwa and the crisp jalebis perfectly round up a great meal. annasi kinnam — seasonal fresh fruits in jaggery, cardamom and saffron flavoured coconut milk, served in a pineapple shell is a typical sweet dish. The Karaikudi Food Festival is on every evening from 7.30pm onwards till June 4.
