LITTLE STAR Akshara puts her best foot forward
Akshara could not be cajoled off the stage. Pleadings and couched threats ("Mommy and daddy are leaving") from father Gitesh Agarwal had little effect on the three-year-old who danced her way into people's hearts and literally stole the thunder from DJ Kunal, on the second day of the MetroPlus Lifestyle Show.
She was swaying to "Ashique Meri", "Jalak Diklaja", "Taxi 9211" and a seemingly endless train of popular Hindi songs, even as a crowd gathered around the stage to cheer her on. Other children too began to shake their legs, encouraged by Akshara's example. Gitesh was enjoying his daughter's performance until she refused to go home.
The father then turned to Kunal, "Please, stop the music for a couple of minutes." When the DJ complied, Akshara wailed and had her way. Ultimately the little one had to be peeled away from the stage.
Today, Daryl will join Kunal at the consoles and everyone, young or old, is welcome to a bit of a skip and a leap.
There are plenty of opportunities for freeloaders at the MetroPlus Lifestyle Show. Anyone could gorge himself on thick burgers for free, thanks to the Marry Brown burger-eating competition organised by Planet Yumm, which manages the food court.
Partha Sarathi Roy, who conducts such yummy contests, says today there are more options for the foodies you can stuff yourself with rice pancakes or noodles and win delicious prizes.
