TAKE NOTICE! Pooja Misrra doesn't want to be categorised
Pooja Misrra does not want to be categorised. From ramps to ads to music shows, she now enters movies. Her first appearance will be in Mera Dil Leke Dekho. The film produced by Shotgun movies, directed by Rohit Kaushik, is to be released at the end of the month.
Pooja plays the role of Sunny, an "urban hot-pot", in the movie. With ravishing looks and pleasant wit, Sunny causes heads to turn and hearts to flutter.
It is obvious why Pooja was chosen for this role. Dressed in a Stella McCartney outfit, Pooja knows the craft of manipulating an audience. She is unwilling to call this movie her "debut" as it was a "family affair".
The movie was produced by Shatrughan Sinha's wife Poonam Sinha, and shot near Pooja's bungalow in Pune. She calls it an "enriching set-up".
She says she has been flooded with offers from other directors but has not found anything stimulating enough. A big fan of Quentin Tarantino, she hopes to work with Ramgopal Varma and Sanjay Gupta. She is also keen to work with Yash Chopra who "sees everything in a beautiful haze".
Eclectic taste
Her "thirst for doing something different" has made her an avid scuba diver, an eclectic music lover and a keen athlete. In scuba diving she enjoys "fooling the fish into thinking you are a big fish."
She has worked as a successful veejay with Channel 33 Dubai and Zoom. To her, a "true music lover is one who can enjoy all types of music." After a recent trip to Hong Kong she has started appreciating Korean hip-hop. Having been an athlete and swimmer during her schooling at Cathedral, Mumbai, today she enjoys going to the gym six times a week.
Hailing from an academic family, Pooja is proud that she has entered the industry because of her merit and her readiness for risk and challenge. She says confidently, "The industry is clannish, but it is open to talent. Talent is like the sun, it has to come out."
