Yoga for the cool crowd

Packages where you can choose your garb and guru

Yoga anyone? Be it spinal problems, backache, asthma, diabetes or stress, ailments as these can be better handled with the asanas that fall under the seven schools of yoga being taught at the Urban Yoga Centre in Indiranagar.

For the first time, different schools of yoga have congregated under one roof in Bangalore. And Indus League Clothing has brought about a wider perspective to the word yoga by introducing a place for `all things yoga'.

In addition to yoga-specific garments, the Urban Yoga Centre stocks accessories and books and runs a studio and research centre focussing on yoga.

"Books, periodicals, music, meditation, spiritual discourses, DVDs, a comprehensive database of teachers and schools of yoga in the city are but some more facets of the services available to make the concept a more wholesome one," says Kanchan K. Pant, Managing Director of Indus League.

At the Urban Yoga Centre studio, classes for seven different schools of yoga — Sivananda Yoga, Vivekananda Yoga, Krishnamachari Yoga Mandira, Dynamic Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Bihar School of Yoga, Bharat Thakur's Artistic Yoga — are conducted. A beginner is provided with choices and freedom to pick and choose from the different schools.

"We have professionals to guide you through the discovering exercise," says Arun Sirdeshmukh, Marketing Head.

Apart from formal classes, simple yoga remedies too are provided at the Centre for uncomplicated ailments, while lectures and discussions would make up for interesting sessions in the centre's Tea and Talk series.

For more details, call Urban Yoga Centre, 100 Foot Road, Indiranagar, on 32005720.
