Football and food

Here's a chance to enjoy a meal as you watch your favourite soccer stars in action

Even as the football fever grips the city, the Taj Coromandel has planned some interesting events and activities. Giant screens will beckon fans at various spots in the hotel from June 9 to July 9. The food and the dιcor will complement the spirit of the game. While the staff will be dressed in referee uniforms, the food will be prepared in accordance with the country playing on that day.

Guests can pick up `Passports — the entry cards' at the Matchpoint restaurant and Fort St. George's bar, which are redeemable coupons for food, beverages and liquor. The `Passports' are priced at Rs. 500 for regular matches, while they are priced at Rs.1,000, Rs. 1,500 and Rs. 2,000 for quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals, respectively.

Besides, contests, quizzes and lucky dips have been organised. What's more, soccer merchandise such as T-shirts, caps and flags will be distributed free to all guests. A host of prizes can be won each day, including footballs, Van Gogh passport cases and photo frames.

Winners during the quarterfinals will get an exclusive Van Gogh print, while for the finals, it's a crystal trophy. Call 55002827 for reservations.

Meanwhile, at Fisherman's Cove's Bay View, large screens have been installed where guests can watch a match and enjoy a meal on the beach. At Anchor Bar, a special menu has been designed based on football terminology. And at Seagull, thematic weekend buffets have been planned. Call 67413333 for details.
