A doll's life this

This past week, The Lifestyle store in Rajouri Garden was packed with little girls who waited excitedly for the launch of a new Barbie range called Mermadia. The young girls who were dressed in special mermaid and fairy outfits for a competition, participated in many other games, including a hunt for a "Chhota RJ of the Day" organised by Radio City.

Shibani Kashyap, dressed in accordance with the theme, admitted to being a loyal Barbie fan herself. "I can identify with the singing Barbie," she said, adding, "Barbies are girls with a lot of action in their lives — they are rock stars, mermaids and fairies, all at the same time."

She unveiled the new Mermadia range along with radio jockey Neha from Radio City, who described the doll as "a courageous woman who depicts femininity and women's self empowerment."

The collection includes The Little Hands and Coral Cabana play sets, new dolls called Nori and Shella, who change colours when dipped in cold water and Elina, a Barbie with big 18-inch wings, that could be transformed into a mermaid's tail. Not just girls, young boys also wanted to have a share in the fun, but their fun was restricted to tattoo making.

Later the best-dressed Fairy/Mermaid and the lucky winner were announced who took home the entire Mermadia collection. But the highlight of the event, for which the girls were most excited, was the screening of the new animated movie called Barbie Fairytopia Mermadia.
