World Cup picks

Spinn, the pub, is hosting Football Frenzy, a live telecast of the 2006 World Cup for fans in the city. In addition to the matches, sports personalities from various arenas will be there and on June 16 samba dancers and bongo players will perform at an event sponsored by Royal Challenge, Smirnoff and Kingfisher.

The matches will be telecast from June 9 on a six by eight screen. The interiors have been done up to recreate a football atmosphere and MCs and DJs Clitus and James will be there to entertain the crowd. Games will be played and prizes are there to be won. McDonald's meanwhile is organising a promotion for kids called Foosball Freekick. It is an indoor table football game where kids take penalty shots against a goalkeeper and win prizes. To participate, kids have to purchase a Snoopy Football Happy Meal and prizes include toys, chocolate and a free entry coupon to the game. AXN's Road Trip: 2006 FIFA World Cup, features three 30-minute episodes exploring and revealing the must-see attractions and events that each host city offers. From sports bars to stadiums, festivals to games, the host, Neil Cole will prepare the viewers. It will be telecast on every Friday till June 23 at 9 p.m. and repeated on Saturdays at 6 p.m. and Sundays at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
