DIFFICULT Shahid Kapur found it tough to enact deaf and dumb

Shahid Kapur was recently in town to promote his latest flick Chup Chup Ke. Describing this film as a comedy of errors which deals with mistaken identities', the actor said, "This is not the first time I have done a comedy, but it is the first time my role is comic", he differentiates between his comedy films and role. Remember Dil Maange More?

Shahid calls his character `interesting' and admits, "It wasn't so easy to pretend to be deaf and dumb". In the film, Shahid's co-star Kareena plays a born deaf and dumb but Shahid emphasises that the disability factor is not meant to be considered central to the film.

"The film has been shot aesthetically, and since it is a comedy, it shouldn't be taken too seriously". When asked about his expectations from the film, the actor said, Its story is different and if the film is good, it should do well, regardless of who is in it."

Chup Chup Ke is Shahid's first film with director Priyadarshan, famous for his situational comedies. He says about the director,"Priyadarshan works really fast. In the first few days, I was trying to adjust to the frenzy. The whole thing was insane. I couldn't stop laughing. With co-starts like Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav, it was like a roller coaster ride."

Humbled by love

The actor is glad that things are going well, and is humbled by the appreciation, love and enthusiasm he receives wherever he goes. Shahid, who is passionate about dancing, says that live concerts are great fun.

"It is also the closest we can get to our fans, and it allows the interaction to happen on a more personal level", he said.

The film that saw its release this past Friday, is a `thorough entertainer' according to Shahid.

Inviting people to watch the film in cinema halls in large numbers, the actor concluded by saying, "Be sure not to watch the film Chup Chup Ke!" discouraging the use of pirated VCDs.
