Buddha comes visiting the Cartoon Network channel this month

SPIRITUAL TALE From "The Legend of Buddha"

Two Indian animation features, "Son Of Alladin" and "The Legend of Buddha" premiere on Cartoon Network this month. While "Son of Alladin" was telecast recently, "The Legend of Buddha" will be shown on June 25 at noon.

Produced by Chennai-based Pentamedia, the two feature-length animations take the tally of local animations acquired and showcased by Cartoon Network to eleven, with three of these launching in 2006.

Debuting on Cartoon Network Theatre is the classic 2D animation feature "The Legend of Buddha." This inspirational story details the journey of Prince Siddhartha of Kapilavastu. Despite every measure taken to ensure that the Prince leads a protected life of luxury and comfort, he witnesses the effects of old age, sickness and death during a tour of his city. These experiences prod him to pursue the true meaning and purpose of life. He then leaves his home to embark on a journey of self-realisation.

The other popular animation features to be telecast on Cartoon Network are "Ramayan: The Legend of Prince Ram", "Vikram Betaal", "The Adventures of Tenali Raman" and "The Adventures of Chhota Birbal."
