June Rock Out delivered on its promise of high-octane music and there's more where it came from

LET `EM ROLL Sledge is all set to take you on a trip
The first episode of the eighth edition of the annual Spykar Jeans JRO (June Rock Out, dahlings) was the right mix of rebellion, rock and angst. Bangalore boys Old Jungle Saying kicked off the evening with wonderful covers of Red Hot Chilli Peppers and innovative originals. Vocalist Adhi with Mel on guitar and Greg on drums had the crowd on their feet. Sandeep with his long hair and amazing riffs on bass was the epitome of the rock star.
Then After Taste from Mumbai took the stage and electrified the floor with their full on high-energy performance.
Alistair with silky smooth vocals, accompanied by some mind-altering guitar from Michael Lee, bass and backing vocals from Ruell and killer drumming from Levin Mendes, took the ecstatic crowd to the stratosphere.
The finale was from Chennai-based Blood Covenant. With Eddie (ex-Bonesaw) fronting the group, there are no doubts of their genre — extreme metal. Eddie, Timmy and Brijesh were togged up in true gothic style and the frenetic, frantic music had the janta howling for more.
And more there will be this weekend. There is Level 9 with its unique blend of jazz, funk, blues and progressive rock; Phenom that started off as a college band and has had no looking back since and Sledge; the Hyderabad-based five-piece metal outfit that opened for the gods of rock Shiva.
