The next generation is here

Last week, "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi," that popular soap on STAR Plus, took a 20-year leap into the future. Ekta Kapoor's serial unveils the fourth generation of the Virani family, and the channel hopes this will lend a fresh look to the serial. Here, all the old characters turn grey, while seven new faces have been introduced, the most important being Krishna Tulsi to be played by Moni Roy, a Bengali student from Delhi. Remember that this serial maintained a double digit TRP for more than five years in succession. According to Shailaja Kejriwal, senior creative director, STAR India, "It was absolutely logical to take this leap, as even after five years, "Kyunki..." remains a clear leader among the soaps across channels, and to remain at that level it's important to constantly innovate, and bring in freshness to the storyline." Says Ekta Kapoor: "It is time Tulsi passes the baton on to the younger generation. I was particular about the character of Krishna Tulsi and I am sure Moni Roy will do justice to the role." Ekta feels the new characters and sets will make "Kyunki... " even more interesting.
