City slicker now

Cheran has moved away from the village milieu, which usually forms the backdrop of his films, to make "Mayakannadi", an out and out comedy set in urban Chennai. And guess what? Cheran and Navya are playing the lead. They play beauticians working in an upmarket parlour. While Cheran works on the ground floor in a men's parlour, Navya is a hairstylist on the first floor of the same building. Initially, they are at loggerheads with each other, but soon love develops, leading to a twist in the story. The shooting for the film is almost complete except for the songs. Says Cheran: "It is a clean fun movie with an emotional twist."
