Losing a landmark?
The article "Green patches in a grey jungle" (June 15) should serve as an eye-opener to the Chennai Municipal Corporation authorities as to how these parks serve the community and how they enliven the localities they are situated in. Panagal Park is one such located in a concrete jungle that the once quiet T. Nagar has become and the authorities are toying with the idea of converting this popular landmark into a multi-level parking lot. I feel the proposal should be dropped in the interest of the city and its residents. Perhaps the possibilities of constructing a multi-level or basement parking lot over or under the T. Nagar bus stand may be explored.
