Don't sully the sands

This is with reference to the article on the Marina Beach ("Sea of activity", May 29). All the good aspects of the beach were highlighted. However, when I happened to visit the beach on a Sunday morning, I was shocked to see people defecating on the sands. Is it enough to save the beach from litter alone? Should they not be educated on hygiene and how to keep public places clean? Until we achieve some positive result on this, all our efforts to become a global power will not be fruitful.
