Going nuts

Natraj Subramaniam, better known in Mumbai ad world as Nutty, was an ad film cameraman who has done over 800 commercials before graduating to feature films such as "Paanch", "Black Friday" and "Yudh". But it was ad filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar's directorial debut "Parineeta", which made Nutty a top cinematographer in Bollywood.

Now Nutty the cameraman has turned actor with Udayabhanu Maheswaran's gangster movie "Naalai" for which he is getting a lot of critical acclaim. His shabby looks and dialogue delivery have caught the attention of the Tamil film industry. But Nutty says: "It was by sheer accident that I did `Naalai', as the actor who was supposed to do the role could not make it."

Nutty is in a fix as he is crazy about Tamil cinema (he grew up in Chennai) but at the same time his career lies in Bollywood, as he is the cameraman for Vidhu Vinod Chopra's "Eklavya" and Pradeep Sarkar's next film with Rani Mukherjee!
