Raining Tamil hits?

The audio cassette and CD of "Manathodu Mazhaikkalam" were launched recently

A FAMILY FUNCTION At the launch of the audio of "Manathodu Mazhaikkalam"

It was an out and out family function what with Ilaiyaraaja's sons Karthik Raja and Yuvan Shankar Raja, and daughter Bhavatharini on the dais, and their mother and other family members seated in the front row. They were all there to wish Karthik for the launch of his audio of ELK Productions' "Manathodu Mazhaikkalam."

Producers KRG and R. B. Choudary released the first cassette and CD, which were received by Yuvan Shankar Raja, who was all praise for Karthik. He said, "Of the three of us, Karthik is a genius. He knows how to pick the right tune and make it a hit. So I feel the songs in `Manathodu... ' will be a success."

R. B. Choudary said he was happy that director Arputhan had got a good film. "He is talented and has worked in our company. He has now got a good producer in Antony. I have heard the songs of `Manathodu... ' and all of them are good."

KRG hoped all the films to become box office success.

Director Arputhan gave a small introduction to each song, which was interesting. He said "Manathodu... " had all the ingredients of a box office success. "It has melodious songs, neat screenplay and good performance by the lead players Shaam and Nithya Dass. The team comprising cameraman Ragav, lyricist Na. Muthukumar and executive producer `Challenge' A. R. Sakthivel has done an excellent job. We have worked hard on the songs and we are happy that they have all come out well."

`Welcome to' is the first number, sung by Sukhwinder Singh and Rahul Seth. Karthik Raja has tried his best to give it a pop feel and he has not failed in his attempt. `Unakkum Enakkum' sung by Saravanan, Ranjith, Priya, Sethu and Bobby could have been better if only Karthik had worked a little more on it. `Kangal Theduthe' has been sung twice by Sadhana Sargam and Jessie Gift. A word of appreciation for Sadhana Sargam who has worked hard on her Tamil pronunciation. It also gets full marks for being the best song.

`Pani Vizhum Kaalam' sung by Karthik Raja, Madhusree and Premji is a good number, while Madhu Balakrishnan and Sadhana Saragam's `Aayiram Vanavil' has enjoyable lyrics and tune.
