A choice of cuisine

Gourmets can choose from three food festivals with different flavours

TEMPTING Thai cuisine uses coconut milk along with a combination of exotic herbs

It is raining food festivals. Food lovers can pick from Thai, Chettinad and Continental.

While Terrace, The Leela, Kovalam, is holding a Thai food festival from June 23 to July 2, Taj Green Cove's `The Chettinad Food Fest' will conclude on June 25 (7.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.)

Meanwhile, Coffee Beanz, the first coffee pub in the city is conducting a food festival with a Continental flavour from June 23 to July 3, to celebrate their second anniversary.

Thai bonanza

The Leela has brought in Thai master Chef Chamlong to lend an authentic flavour to the fete while Taj Green Cove has Chef Sonimuthu, who is an expert in Chettinad cusine.

Thai cuisine is fast emerging as one of the more popular cuisines in the world. The focus is on flavours in the food, which is derived from native herbs and spices. The buffet is priced at Rs. 500 plus taxes for lunch and Rs. 600 plus taxes for dinner for one.

On the other hand, if you hunger for some spicy food, drop in at the Chettinad fete. The buffet at Taj Green Cove is priced at Rs.499, inclusive of all taxes.

Continental

The highlight of the food festival at Coffee Beanz will be continental fried chicken, which will be served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. There will be triple-decker sandwich, steak burgers, a variety of sandwiches, `mochaccino' and iced cappuccino. In addition to this, there is also the usual array of cold and hot coffees, milkshakes, chicken nuggets, stuffed dosas, cookies and the by now famous appam and chicken stew.
