Raining fun `n' frolic

Devi Sri Prasad's musical night in Guntur was like the pre-monsoon shower, says Jayaraj Manepalli

ROCKING STAR The troupe members gyrated to Devi Sri's tunes

Offering the much-needed respite from the oppressive summer heat, which unleashed its fury for the last few weeks, music director and singer Devi Sri Prasad unleashed a fountain of music in the city. The crowds rocked, as it was a well-deserved break from the mundane lifestyle.

Braving the sweltering heat, hordes of music-lovers descended on the NTR Municipal Stadium to shake a leg with their favourite film music director Devi Sri Prasad. City-based Bommidala Group organized the programme to celebrate the launch of their Sampoorna brand of betel nut powder.

The tastefully decorated stage and the modern sound and light system provided to the audience an evening to remember. Besides drip-feeding the crowds on generous dose of music, dance and mimicry, television anchor Shilpa Chakravarthy pepped-up the spirits of the audience, which gave a fitting welcome to the star of the evening.

Lusty cheers

Visakhapatnam-based Roshanlal Orchestra presented a number of super hit film songs. Dance sequences to the medley of songs from latest films like Pokiri and Bangaram enthused youngsters who cheered and whistled loudly.

Audiences were treated to their satisfaction by DTS Anand, an artiste from Vijayawada who is also called 'Anand DTS' for his superb imitation of digital sound system in a movie hall. Anand imitated the orchestra to the accompaniment of songs from a few films. He was given a standing ovation for his 'breathless' performance when he produced the background music for a song from Manjunatha.

The crowds, especially the younger lot, grew restive when the music director did not turn up till late in the night. But their impatience disappeared into thin air when the singer dished out some popular numbers in the short time he was on the dais.

He sang and danced to the tunes of numbers from super hit films like Varsham, Manmadhudu, Nuvvu Vastanante Nenu Vaddantanaa, Mass and Bunny. The grand finale came with title song from Shanker Dada MBBS. The event was put together by Fourth Dimension.
