Lessons in leadership

"Chanakyashastra", a play on management in English, will be staged on June 30

Here is a play that highlights the leadership practices of Chanakya, the greatest known king maker, strategist and thinker in the history of our country. "Chanakyashastra", to be staged on June 30, 7 p.m. at the Music Academy showcases the nine powerful gems (the navaratnas) created by Chanakya to create a leader like Chandragupta Maurya. Written and directed by corporate trainer, theatre and film director Sanjay Srinivas, the play is based in a corporate setting and aims to underline the usefulness and applicability of Chanakya's profound wisdom for the future leaders of the country.

An increasing number of professionals are discovering the potential of story telling as a tool for business management, knowledge management, organisational development, coaching, sales and development of many other interpersonal skills. Story telling ignites action in knowledge organisations. Sanjay has been able to combine playback theatre and corporate training with great success. He has trained professionals from top corporates in areas of team building, creative thinking and communication skills. He has to his credit plays such as "The Dressing Room", "Psy-Clone" and "Chaplin in Love" and a movie "Silence, Please - The Dressing Room".

Sanjay and his team will work closely with the management of your organisation along with your human resource team to customise a follow-up training programme for a select group of executives. The special feature of the programme will be a video analysis of the navaratnas by nine famous achievers from the corporate world. This programme will use Hollywood and Bollywood films for the study and analysis of the practical applications of the navaratnas. Theatre games and exercises will also be employed to bring out the values of certain gems.

The cast of "Chanakyashastra" includes Rajendra Gupta as the master strategist and Alekh Sangal as the Future. Tickets are priced at Rs. 750, Rs. 400 and Rs. 200. For details contact the organisers (Media Mix) at 4215 0950 or 24520261.
