Blue notes and riffs clash at stands this week

BLUE NOTES B.B. King returns with `Gold'

Liberation Transmission

Lostprophets/Sony BMG

Their first album, The Fake Sound of Progress, was originally recorded as a glorified demo, and was re-recorded for release on a much wider scale.

With Start Something, their second cover, the British act entered the U.K. chart at No.5 and rocked the United States charts as well.

The third album, released yesterday, features music that is touted to beat Last Train Home, their most famous and successful single in the U.K. so far.

Inside In/Inside Out

The Kooks/EMI

The young Brighton foursome release their post-punk rock debut in this part of the world this week.

Produced by Tony Hoffer, the album, a collection of their singles, reached the top five in the U.K. charts on its release there early this year.

Also find on the cover demos that were previously released for download on the Internet, as also new tracks.

Gold

B.B.King/Universal

"In my lifetime, blues music has certainly grown in its universal appeal and I am forever grateful," says the blues legend. After his recent and 14th Grammy in the `Best Traditional Blues Album' (his Live at the Regal was also inducted into the Grammy's Hall of Fame this year), King returns with a modern urban blues cover.
