`The recognition is amazing'

A career in hotel management was the sole aim of this actress from Marathi film industry. But Pallavi Kulkarni finally landed in the acting arena and soon became a recognisable face, of course, thanks to serials like Kya Hadsa Kya Haqeeqat, Had Kar Di, Aaj Bhi Ateet and Kehta Hai Dil.
But the most challenging role, says this striking actress, is in Vaidehi - Aik Aur Agneepariksha, which has just gone on air on Sony TV. Because Pallavi says the daily demanded her "to look like a simpleton".
Vaidehi is the brainchild of actress-turned-soap producer, Aruna Irani and we deduce that Aruna's favourite actress is Sangeeta Ghosh since Sangeeta featured in quite a few of her serials, the most popular one being Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand.
So how come she got picked for the role? Answers Pallavi, "It is a story about a sensitive, simple and innocent girl played by me. It is the story of a life after marriage. Sangeeta's face exudes more sensuality and this might have been the reason why Arunaji has chosen me."
Pallavi got most noticed after Kehta Hai Dil. She agrees, "Though I was quite active in modelling and theatre, but the success that I achieved through Kehta Hai Dil is amazing. It got me instant recognition with the masses."
Despite being already active in theatre and Marathi films, Pallavi took her own sweet time to switch to the Hindi belt. She reasons, "I wanted to take a break. Moreover, there was no challenging role for me to play. Now also I do one thing at a time. So for now, I am concentrating only on Vaidehi."
And when she is not shooting, she spends most of her time with her family. "My family is my strength, I try to spend as much time as possible with my family," she adds.
