Sunil Grover on his popular Lallan avatar

FUNNY BONE Lallan's a hit, thanks to his earthy wisdom
A budding `phillum' hero coupled with a superhero - a double treat?
Well, Filmy channel's star movie jockey `Lallan', straight from Jaunpur has his hands full with the promotion of the just-released Krrish.
Why does Lallan promote this film? Simple, "Lallan wants to become a hero and this film is all about a superhero. Lallan therefore wants to witness it," he says.
Watching Krrish with Lallan was an initiative by Filmy, which is celebrating June as Lallan's month. In a contest running on an FM radio channel, over 250 winners from five cities were given tickets to watch the movie in `filmy ishtyle' with their hero Lallan.
His performance included his regular hilarious takes on Bollywood stars' mannerisms, and his own funny reasons for watching Krrish. The sequel to the blockbuster Koi Mil Gaya is also Hrithik's first film since Lakshya.
"There is a Lallan inside every person. Most people are ambitious and hungry for life with a desire to make it big," says Sunil Grover, the onscreen Lallan.
People, therefore, relate to this funny character, he adds. However, according to Sunil the most endearing aspect of Lallan's character is his innocence and dedication towards his dream.
Full of rustic intelligence and earthy wisdom, the quintessential movie buff aims to become U.P.'s biggest export to Bollywood after Amitabh Bachchan.
With his pure Bhojpuri accent, his trademark curiosity, his appreciation for his favourite star Mithun Chakravarty and his discomfort with scantily clad women, Lallan has endeared himself to his audience.
The anchor of the most popular show on Filmy has now virtually become the face of the channel itself. Before Lallan, Sunil lent his voice to a number of television commercials and has also acted in a few advertisements. "I might sound arrogant but what Lallan showcases is just 20 percent of myself," says the multi-talented performer.
