Here's independent cinema from India
|
The Alliance Francaise de Bangalore, in coordination with TotalFilm India, is organising the first monthly Indie Film Festival, an exhibition of independent filmmakers this weekend.
This event will showcase independent short films from around the world which range in length from two minutes to 25 minutes and in different formats, from documentary to fiction. There will also be discussions with the audience.
Unlike most other film festivals in Bangalore showcasing independent filmmakers, the Indie Film Festival will mostly include films made by Indians or those of Indian origin, say the organisers.
The primary objective of the Indie Film Festival, they add, is to not only celebrate Indians taking part in independent cinema, but also send out a beacon call to Bangaloreans to seriously learn about the art of filmmaking.
The event will be hosted and moderated by Chetan Kumar, an independent filmmaker from Bangalore, and Caleb Franklin, a Harvard graduate who is currently in India making a documentary film.
They will lead an interactive discussion with participants on the films shown and also share stories and anecdotes about their own filmmaking careers.
The Indie Film Festival kicks off at the Alliance Francais de Bangalore on Saturday, July 1, at 11 a.m.
Entry is free and open to all.
