ATTRACTIVE ARRAY At the exhibition
Uttar Pradesh Handlooms is holding "U. P. Expo", an exhibition of handicrafts and handlooms from U.P. as well as other States till July 10, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., at Sri Sankara Hall, 267, TTK Road, Alwarpet.
In this expo, sheesam wood articles from Saharanpur are the main attraction — non-stick wooden kitchen ware, acupressure massagers, wooden partitions, garden chairs, stools and candle stands. Besides, the display includes chikankari outfits from Lucknow, terracotta artefacts from Kolkata, brassware from Muradabad, hundred varieties of bags and torans, phulkari and kantha work from Gujarat, pearls and one-gram jewellery from Hyderabad, brass sculptures from Tamil Nadu, toys from Chennapatna, paintings and lac bangles from Jaipur, rudraksha from Nepal, tops and dress materials from Kashmir, supari from Rajasthan, saris from Pochampalli and Orissa and antiques, mats and carved articles from Chettinad.
Discounts of 20 per cent on handlooms and 10 per cent on handicrafts are being offered.
