Live wire action

The football World Cup, the Indian cricket team touring the Caribbean, and now Wimbledon. The last few weeks have been an absolute treat for sports buffs in the city and live sports has never had it so good before. Even people who aren't used to sitting glued to the television over a football or cricket match have been finding themselves entertained to the hilt.

Live sports might not get the same amount of airtime as traditional TV programming but the sheer number of viewers it attracts is a reflection of its popularity and as a consequence, contracts for telecasting sports are bitterly fought over. Remember the cricket rights saga?

ANAND SANKAR finds that live sports has broad appeal among Bangaloreans and they have very strict loyalties when it comes to choosing which sport to watch.

Women do like to sit and watch sports on TV. It just depends on each person's interest and what they want to do. Personally I enjoy cricket the most.

Cricket, I just love cricket. I can sit watch the game for hours. But football? I just don't understand it. All the rules, of offside and everything, it's too complicated for me.

It's good fun to watch live sport. Especially if the sport is popular and you are able to watch it with many people. For me any game is fine cricket, football or tennis.

Live sport is very expensive if you have to go watch it at the venue but it is fine on television. I am a former football player, so take a guess on my favourite game.

Sports is absolutely the best entertainment around and I am enjoying the football World Cup. Live sports is best in a short span of time; cricket takes too long.

Yes, watching live sports is great because it has not been already scripted and recorded in a studio. I am too attached to cricket but do watch major football matches.

Murugesh

Yes, watching sports on television is good time pass. I have been a cricket player before, so there is no other game that I enjoy more than that.

Yes, live sports is very good entertainment. It can keep you engaged and you can't feel the passage of time. I love to watch cricket, which is a passion for me.

Live sport is very good entertainment but I find it very fast, like for example football. But I don't enjoy football that much because India doesn't play it that much.
