Stories about investigation

"CID", the investigative series, has been one of the most popular shows on Sony TV for the past six years. It deals with hard-core procedural stories dealing with investigation, detection and suspense. The protagonists comprises an elite group of police offi- cers led by ACP Pandyuman, brilliantly played by Sivaji Satam. Now, Sony TV is revamping the show by adding two new members, a young man and a girl, who have been chosen after a nationwide search.

Hot and happening

Purnima Maudgil, the new anchor of "Connect" on SS Music, has become a hot favourite among the youth after the departure of Shriya Reddy. Says Purnima, a Punjabi by birth, who has lived all her life in Hyderabad: "I used to anchor shows on stage before. I had to create my own style which is friendly and never in-your-face." What's more, the spunky lass is already getting offers from Tamil film directors.

Jackpot creates history

The knowledgebased game show, "Jackpot", anchored by Kushboo on JayaTV, has created history by completing 200 episodes in four years. Thanks to the fun show, the actress has become a household name, especially in rural Tamil Nadu, where her designer blouses and Kanchipuram saris are topics for discussion. The USP of the show is Kushboo's inimitable style, her friendly deportment and her distinct style of speaking Tamil. Little wonder that "Jackpot" won the prestigious RAPA Award for the best game show in regional languages. Says Kushboo: "I try my best to make the show a friendly interaction between the participants. The success of the show was mainly because of team effort, and I have to thank Telly Zoom, the producers, the sponsors and of course, Srinivas, who has designed my blouses." For the 200th episode, which deviated from the usual format, small screen heroes and heroines participated.
