POWER DRESSING Bipasha Basu
Boardroom basics: The flavour of this week is Bipasha Basu. She's Madhur Bhandarkar's Corporate woman, brushing shoulders with the heavy weights in business boardrooms. Watch out for those business suits, formal shirts, trousers and skirts that give her the no-nonsense attitude. The brand that popularised Friday dressing in the country has designed her outfits for the film. The jackets are not limited to the boring blacks, blues and greys. There are browns, olive green and mauve shades as well. Talking of work wear, choose your attire to suit your office atmosphere. Go for business suits and be an advertisement for power dressing only if you are working in a corporate house and hold a certain position. Else, the modest salwar kameez (you can replace the long dupattas with classy stoles) or a formal shirt teamed with a khakhi shirt would do the trick.
Bikini turns 60: All the world's paying rich tribute to the miniscule amount of clothing, which made its humble beginning six decades ago, and was immortalised by screen Goddesses ranging from Ursula Andress to Dimple Kapadia and Mallika Sherawat. A tip for those who are inhibited to sport a bikini. As always, fashionistas have alternatives. Take a cue from the bikini while designing your halter saree blouses. Or, simply wear a semi see through georgette/chiffon kurti or tunic over a bikini top. Take out word for it. These are popular abroad too, are the style statements are peddled with the Bollywood tag.
Mane matters: There are as many hairstyles trends as there are stars who make them popular. Long hair was never this popular until Hrithik Roshan and Dhoni popularised the style. But soon after, Dhoni, along with cricketers like Sreesanth, trimmed their mane a stifle too short during summer. And now, hairstyles sported by football icons have become a rage. A word for those waiting to ape the latest trends: do a double check before blindly following a trend. Unless it suits you, you might end up sticking out like a soar thumb.
