A film about jawans

The audio release of "Aran" was organised in the city recently

AT THE LAUNCH Several film personalities attended the event

Actor Kamal Haasan released the cassette and CD for Super Good films' latest production "Aran". The first copies were received by Simbu and `Kadhal' Sandhya.

Addressing the gathering, Kamal said, "I readily agreed to come for the launch, since it's a film that revolves around the lives of jawans. What makes it special is the fact that someone from the military fraternity, Major Ravi, has directed it. Most of us are not aware of the hardships the jawans face. Besides bullets from the opposite camp, they have to survive extreme weather conditions. Going by the banners and posters, it's apparent that both Mohanlal and Jeeva have worked very hard."

Producer R. B. Choudary, who usually doesn't visit the shooting spots, said, "I used to call the unit every morning and evening to know how the shooting was progressing. After a few days, I got so restless that I decided to go to Kashmir. And this I did, mainly to see that the whole unit was safe. We were shooting with dummy bombs, pistols and other weapons. But whenever the bombs exploded, people used to think it was a real one. After some time, I decided to shift the venue back to Chennai. The film has come out well and it will be released soon."

There are five songs in the cassette released by Star Music (cassette priced at Rs.22 and CD priced at Rs. 40, the lowest for a new film audio).

Joshwa Sridhar has scored the music and the first song in the cassette is "Pooncholai Kiliye" written by Sivanthi Ka. Silvarasan and sung by Karthik and Asha Menon. The second song "Mugilae Mugilae" sung by Srinivas and written by Na. Muthu Kumar sounds fine to the ear. There are only two songs on one side and three on the other. `Allahve Engalin' is sung by Manikkavinayagam and Sajit Bharath. It is another good composition in which one wouldn't recognise Manikkavinayagam's voice. Srinivas is coming back with "Idhu Yarum Ezhuthathadu", a short and sweet rendition, while Pa.Vijai's "Thottal Poo Pookkudhe" sung by Anushkaa wraps up the score for the film.
