The `real' picture

`Corporate' draws inspiration from real life instances

REEL LIFE Bipasha Basu and KK in the film

Madhur Bhandarkar's Corporate is the second film in his trilogy - Page3, Corporate and Signal. Like his previous venture Page 3, this one too draws from real life instances.

Predictably, not wanting to earn the wrath of real-life business head honchos, Bhandarkar uses cinematic licence to subtly weave these instances into his story. When contacted, Bhandarkar maintains, "A lot of homework went into the project. This included meeting with senior and junior level executives of corporate companies to understand how the world of business functions.

I did a similar research for Page 3 as well by talking to and observing media professionals. The similarities end there. Corporate is not based on the cola wars or any other business house."

Well, we aren't taking names either. But here are a few instances from Corporate.

What's real and what's not, we'll leave it to you to decide. The bone of contention between the two corporate houses in the film is a mint-based soft drink. Sounds familiar? The respective soft drinks are called Fizzy and Just Chill. As we promised, we won't tell you the names of the two companies that competed to launch their mint-based soft drink.

The first drink to hit the market, Just Chill, is found to have traces of pesticides.

Achint Kaur, who plays the high-profile wife of CEO Rajat Kapoor, is your typical society woman who hosts art shows inviting artists from across the world? Any guess on the art patron being represented here?
