The French connection

In this era of fashion consciousness, with dozens of institutes springing up purporting to give training in modelling, it is hard to differentiate the good from the mediocre. The Elite School of Modelling stands out not only by its name, but also because it is a branch of the well-known Paris-based institute.

Started in 2003 in Greater Kailash, the school, which has been grooming students for the past three years, celebrated the graduation of its 25th batch this past week with great fervour. Attended by overwhelmed parents and a proud faculty, the glitzy function featured students performing a scintillating Salsa dance, a romantic play, "The Silver Shawl", and a comedy skit, "James Bond Hazir Ho" which made the audience roar with laughter. The ramp walk was naturally an important part of the event, where the students showed what they had learnt. At the end, Sushma Puri, CEO, Elite, distributed awards to deserving students for outstanding performances.

This Paris-based institute now has branches throughout the world, with Delhi as its only Indian branch. The Elite School has to its credit some great faces, which it has groomed like Neha Kapoor (Miss India 2006), Bharat Arora (face for Hutch and Mountain Dew) and Balaji (serial actor), Vipasha Agarwal (the face of Fair & Lovely), Pulkit Samrat (Kisna in Kyun Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi) and many others. The school boasts a gamut of experts in their faculty including some well-known names like Vidhya Tikari (make-up), Sofie Smith (ramp techniques) and Varun Narain (theatre) among others. With an intake of 25 students for three months the school offers a comprehensive programme. Having groomed already 450 students successfully since its inception, the school also assists its students in placements.
