ABOUT THE CODE

FREEDOM These girls have every reason to celebrate

I read C.K. Meena's article on the dress code (City Lights, June 28, 2006) with interest and appreciation. The sad part is the virus is spreading to all institutions. Even a well-known software company in Bangalore, which professes to be a leader in everything, brought in a special code for its women employees and it proscribed sleeveless blouses and tight pants! It is really shameful that just when women are struggling to get out of the shackles placed so long on them, there is a reactionary force pushing them back to the hole.

TIME OUT

How well you described the lives of working women in The Time of Our Lives (MetroPlus, July 12, 2006). With the kind of stressful lives we lead, it would seem we have to keep running to remain in the same place.
