Photographers and graphic artists can showcase their skills at a pan-Asian level

Seiko Epson Corporation has announced the launch of its Epson Colour Imaging Contest 2006, a pan-Asia competition for digital output photographs and graphic works. Now in its 13th year, this contest, held since 1994, is a way for Epson to help promote the growth of digital imaging. This is the third year that India will be participating in this pan-Asian contest.

Countries from around Asia, including Japan and China, participate in this contest that provides a platform for India's photographers and graphic artists to compete with the best in Asia. The total prize money will be to the tune of approximately Rs. 24 lakh. This year, the focus of the contest is being narrowed. By eliminating some of the categories featured in the past years and keeping only the colour imaging award category, Epson seeks to provide both professionals and amateurs in the worlds of photography and graphic design a chance to showcase their work.

The two entry categories are: photograph category and graphics category. The first category includes works that demonstrate a free approach to photographic expression, produced via a digital process. The latter category includes works that freely explore the depths of a wide genre of mediums — from digital design and computer graphics to brush work, prints, illustrations and typography — produced by a digital process.

Entries will be judged by an expert panel in Japan. Grand Prize winners will receive 2 million yen in prize money and Epson plans to hold an exhibition displaying the award-winning work in Tokyo.

The entry rules and regulations and contest forms are available on the following webpage:www.epson.co.in/promo/colourimaging contest.shtml

The winners will be announced on Epson India's corporate website (www.epson.co.in) in mid-December 2006. Valid entries must be received by Epson India on or before

August 31.
