Zoom-zoom... vroom

Visitors at the British International Motor Show, London get a thrilling challenge

For an entire fortnight during the show, visitors have the opportunity of enjoying a unique driving experience - they get a chance to pilot a Mazda RX-8 PZ and Mazda MX-5 on a purpose-built Driving Dynamics Test Track. And stand a chance to win the top prize, which is the use of a Mazda MX-5 2.0 Sport roadster for a whole year.

Mazda has created an all-new, 300-metre long driving course on the dockside next to Excel where the Zoom-Zoom Challenge begins everyday at 10 a.m. and goes on till 8 p.m. for each day of the show. Before taking on the challenge, two timed laps, one lap in a Mazda RX-8 PZ and one at the wheel of a Mazda MX-5, participants will have a chance to learn the twisty course via a practice lap, before taking on the Challenge.

"Mazda is an emotional, involving and accessible brand," comments Mark Cameron, Marketing Director, Mazda Motors, U.K. "We believe that the best way to communicate the thrilling Zoom-Zoom spirit of Britain's favourite sports car brand is to present this exciting Challenge opportunity at the show, offering visitors a unique free of charge driving experience in our award-winning sports cars."

The most driver-focused, the Mazda RX-8 PZ, is the purest expression of `Zoom-Zoom' and is powered by an ultra-smooth 230 bhp Renesis rotary engine.

The third-generation Mazda MX-5, on the other hand, is the iconic soft-top roadster, which achieves perfect 50:50 weight distribution and embodies the Japanese ideal of Jinba Ittai (the symbiosis between rider and horse), to produce a beautifully balanced driving machine which delivers heightened driving pleasure.

Every participant is accompanied by a professional driver who describes the best way to achieve a fast lap time, assesses their car control skills and driving smoothness, as well as their Zoom-Zoom attitude. So be assured that a quick lap time does not guarantee the award, as it is not the only criterion judged before awarding the prize. However, don't forget that participants must be aged 21 or over and must bring along their full driving licence.

Visitors to the show, taking the Zoom Zoom Challenge, after receiving a full safety briefing will be allocated a time-slot for their drive. Mazda expects to see thousands of people taking the Zoom-Zoom Challenge during the British International Motor Show. Lucky Brits... so how about one of our car manufacturers laying on something like this for us in India, then?
