Now British Library offers more great DVDs

For those not fondly acquainted with the medium of print, the British Library must have seemed a complete no-no in the past. If you fall into that category of non-readers, here's good news for you. For the last one year, the library has had a vibrant collection of DVDs for loan. And now the collection has added on an envious array of popular new releases film buffs would love to sink their teeth into.

The collection, which already boasts over 1,100 titles will now feature an additional 200 new DVDs, which will be on display at the British Library between 10.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. till July 24. It now covers a variety of genres such as action, comedy, adventure, literary classics, children's cinema, war films, mysteries and even music films and notable titles such as Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Doctor Who, Mind Your Language, Seven Samurai, The Beggar's Opera, and so on.

According to Sadashiv Naik, Assistant Manager, British Library, the new additions come in the wake of the successful run of the DVD library over the last year. "Since the DVD collection was started last June, we have received great feedback from our members. The fact that the collection has British films, dramas and documentaries that are not available anywhere else in Bangalore has attracted many members to it. Moreover, all the films we offer are directly imported original versions." The expansion of the collection, too, he explains has been facilitated by customer feedback. "Although we started off with the most popular titles initially, we have made the new additions based on suggestions from the customers on what they would like to see here."

The DVD collection at the British Library can be borrowed by members possessing a Classic-DVD membership. This membership costs Rs. 1,600 annually, and allows customers to borrow three books from the general book collection as well as one DVD at a time for a period of 21 days. For further details, contact the British Library on 22489220.
