Drapes make a statement

Designers Shantanu Goenka and Jatin Varma make their debut in the city

Designers Shantanu Goenka and Jatin Varma, who made a mark at the Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week this year, are displaying their creations at Studio Saks, Padmavathi Road, Gopalapuram.

An alumni of NIFT and one of Kolkata's well-known couturier, Shantanu has created a practical and wearable line of tunics. Pastel palettes, muted hues in soft silk and georgette are the predominant features of his collection. The creations are a blend of interesting styles, embroidery, drapes and cuts. The garment is embellished with sequins, lace and resham.

As for Jatin, he has created a line of prêt, diffusion and couture ensembles. Dramatically designed drapes are a highlight of this collection. White skirts with gold and silver motifs finished with pearl details are the season's haute statement. The designer has experimented with the foil printing technique and has created a line of tunics, skirts and tops. Saks also showcases the works of Ritika Sachdeva, one of the country's leading accessory designers. Chains, belts, beaded baubles and earrings are part of the collection. Beads, brass, glass and semi-precious stones are some of the elements used in her design.
