The legend of the Pied Piper gets a Kollywood touch
|
It's an old and well-known tale, but retold with a Kollywood touch! The Bala Vidya Mandir Dramatics Society has come up with its second biennial theatre production in English.
Called "ELIminator", the satire, which is an adaptation of the legend "Pied Piper of Hamelin", will be staged on July 18 at Rani Seethai Hall. There will be two shows one for schools at 11.45 a.m. and one for the public at 6.15 p.m.
The society, which was launched in 2003 to give public exposure to the talent of students through mainstream theatre productions, had staged "The Little Witch" to a full house at the Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium in 2004. This time's production, "ELIminator", is being directed by Krishna Kumar S. (Masquerade) and scripted by Aditi Srinivasa Raja (Landing Stage Youth Theatre Group).
The tickets for the show are priced at Rs. 50 for adults and Rs. 25 for children and students, and are available at Landmark (Nungambakkam), Odyssey (Anna Nagar and Adyar), Words&Worths (Besant Nagar) and at the school premises. For direct booking, the school office can be contacted between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 24424445 or 24424446.
