MY KIND OF PLACE
Changing perceptions
At different ages, different places attract you. Besides, not everyone understands what true relaxation is. It's a subjective term. What one might find relaxing, others might find ridiculous.
The blissful yatra
I have travelled the world over, courtesy my art. But after my recent yatra to Kailash and Mansarovar, I can say the joy I experienced during this journey is unparalleled. The five-star luxury, exotic spa treatments, designer outfits, executive class travel and dining at upmarket restaurants could appear absolutely banal. You realise that what money can buy does not always make for real happiness. The darshan of the towering Kailash and bathing in the freezing cold water of Mansarovar, it's a close encounter with Nature.
The journey
I went along with a group of yatris from Rishikesh. We took the Nepal route. It was a five-day trip through sprawling deserts and rough terrain, at high altitudes. And if you prefer to look at it philosophically, the challenges and yearning to reach the final destination teach you the basic lessons of life.
Artistic offering
I participated in the Saga Dawa Festival, a popular event of the Tibetans. I would not like to call it a performance. It was nritya seva, dancing at 16,000 ft, at the foot of the south face of Mount Kailash. A supreme platform and a supreme spectator! I felt my artistic journey had found a new meaning.
