A NEW CONCEPT

Bhass, an advertising film maker, and `Bombay' Kannan of Subha Creations, have `converted' the play, "Maama Vijayam" by writer Sujatha, into a teleserial. `Delhi' Ganesh is the central character and it also stars Vayyapuri, Priya Mahalakshmi and Kuyili. The VCD of "Maama Vijayam", a huge hit in Malaysia, Singapore and other overseas markets, has now been introduced in the Indian market. Priced at Rs. 125, already 3000 copies have been sold. The VCD, made on a shoe-string budget of Rs. 1.5 lakh, has already raked in Rs. 3.5 lakh from overseas rights and advertisements. Says Bhass: "This is an indication that there is a market for telefilms in the VCD market."
