EAT RIGHT Soorya Kaur at her Cleanse Cafe, the raw food cafe at Rejuve
If you have recently greeted the day with: Stop the world, I want to get off, the time has come for some big time rest and recuperation. It is just that bit ironic that we are all on major treadmills dashing past fellow rats just to be able to pay for rejuvenation! The wise sage upon the hill would tell you not to get on the treadmill to begin with; but since that is not an option for most of us, we will make do with creature comforts our delightfully consumerist life offers. And answering precisely that need is the Grand Ashok's recently opened Rejuve (3052777, ext: 8175), a spa that offers a host of treatments including colour therapy, massages, body and facial treatments and Ayurveda.
Chill with colours
Pam Mehra, the well-known new age therapist, uses colour to balance the energies the body lacks. There are four packages, Emotional, (using red and pink crystals, rose and chamomile oils) Peace, (blue crystals, lavender and sandalwood oils) Transformation, (amethyst and lavender oil to tune into the spiritual self) and Rainbow healing (coloured crystals and various oils). Each treatment takes forty minutes. And in case all that is not enough, you could also consult Pam for tarot readings, numerology and feng shui, which will tell you if all this R&R is worthwhile after all! Healing colour and crystal spa packages come in varying hues with pink for a sensual experiences, marigold and basil for revitalising, lavender for relaxing and jasmine for healing.
There are special beverages like rose and cardamom tea that complement the process.
Body of evidence
Therapies using herbs, oils and fragrances offer traditional Indian and Swedish massage, foot massages and innovative stuff like jet lag massage! (You chose not to get off the world!) Then there are body treatments like the aromatic salt glow using sea salts, back cleansing with a rich clay mask, Himalayan clay pack and cane sugar, tamarind and fresh herbs to exfoliate and stimulate the body. Ayurveda has the usual suspects including shirodhara, pizhichil and a head massage that is guaranteed to clear your head and cleanse the soul in these soulless times. After the body has been suitably pampered, how can we ignore the face? So there are the facial treatments like pick-me-up an express facial and aromatherapy.
A three-day summer package has exfoliation, masque, yoga, massage, facial and sun block treatment. Then there is Soorya Kaur with Cleanse Café, a raw food café, which serves soups, salads, pumpkin, noodles, pasta, lasagne, desserts sauces and ketchups all uncooked and appetising (oxymoron, you say?).
Apart from all this, Rejuve has a gym, a swimming pool, a tennis courts, aerobics, aqua aerobics, meditation and yoga all out to flush out the wicked toxins in your body so that you would be rested and rejuvenated for a fresh batch of toxins from the bold bad world!
