Chennai to Kanyakumari in an autorickshaw. Care to go?
|
Call it the bizarre side of motorsport, but the Indian Autorickshaw Challenge is witnessing fresh registrations every hour. A non-competitive rickshaw-based event (from August 21-28; and from Chennai to Kanyakumari), the Challenge will cover 1,000 km through the most scenic roads of South India. The brainchild of the man who co-organised the Budapest-Bamako rally, the unique event has participation from across the world. If you want to participate, all you need is a car licence that is valid in India. Organisers will provide you with an autorickshaw for the event.
There is a very human face to the Indian ARC it supports a local anti-child labour organisation, the New Hope Society for Education and Social Welfare. The Indian Auto Rickshaw Challenge seeks to promote adventure tourism in Tamil Nadu by taking the participants on roads less travelled. Those seeking to escape the mundane need not look further.
To participate or sponsor, get in tounch with Aravind Kumar on 044-42143343/ 42317359 or at admin@indianarc.com. For more details visit http://indianarc.com.
