Monsoon Food Dhamaka is on at Naivedyam

SPICE IT UP Nothing like a hot meal on a rainy day
Thanks to the initiative taken by Naivedyam, a leading vegetarian restaurant here, Mangaloreans periodically get to savour the best of cuisines from other parts of India. This time, the restaurant has organised a month-long festival, Monsoon Food Dhamaka, which brings sumptuous thalis from Rajasthan, Gujarat and Lucknow.
Short eats
Besides thalis, the festival also offers a wide range of snacks, chaat items and sweets specific to these places. The management has brought chefs from these places and flown down some special ingredients to ensure authenticity of taste.
Radhakrishna Bhat, manager of Naivedyam, says: "While we take care to provide our customers with the best of eating choices during regular days, this is an occasion to give them a chance to dig into something which they would not have tried otherwise."
The only hitch, Bhat says, is that customers must wait for at least 20 minutes once they place the order. "This is simply because we serve only freshly cooked food items only after an order is placed. Even the sweets are freshly prepared."
Ambience: Homey
Service: Good
Specialty: Dishes from Rajasthan, Gujarat and Lucknow
Wallet Factor: Thalis cost between Rs. 20 to Rs. 80.
