For aspiring actors
Learn about speech and voice by listening to the war music of Bolero or by analysing the paintings of Van Gogh at a theatre workshop conducted by Mumbai-based Neeraj Kabi of Pravah Theatre Laboratory. The workshop is open to women and those in the 13-19 age group, and will be on from August 7-11 at Maharashtra Mandal, New No. 64, (Old No. 61) EVK Sampath Road. The session for women will take place between 10.30 a.m. and 1.30 p.m., and for youngsters between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. As an actor, Neeraj has trained in yoga, martial arts, Chaau dance and Kathakali and participated in theatre workshops conducted by National School of Drama, Andrei Curti (from France), Andrew Tsubaki (from Japan) and Bill Evaans (from New Mexico). He has performed in major plays and was among the 48 actors selected from Mumbai to perform at the Prithvi International theatre Festival 2005. He also acted in the lead role in "The Last Vision", an award winning feature film produced by the NFDC.
Neeraj's Pravah functions as a theatre laboratory for performance, training and research.
The repertoire of his workshop with children and young people include subjects like acting, theatre, speech, body, masks, puppets, team building, art of concentration and personality development. Using traditional breathing techniques, yoga, martial arts, paintings, literature, meditation and a vast library of speech skills adapted from the theatre, Neeraj has designed a voice culture module and an intensive module on stress management, personality development and communication skills.
