One, two, three, glow

Moisture is the key to younger looking skin. Here's how glasses of water help restore the glow on your face

GLOWING BEAUTY Water is the key

Our skin is mostly made up of water. Facial skin needs water more than anything else to glow and the greatest benefits come from consuming it directly rather than applying it to your face. Unfortunately, modern living conditions lead to too much of water loss. Central heating, air conditioning, sunbathing, flying, smoking, drinking and dieting are all quick routes to wrinkles.

Moisture is the key to younger looking skin. The cells need to remain moist. Drinking water regularly is important for hydration and without water, the skin gets dry, causing premature aging.

Get rid of those toxins

Water helps cool the body, including the skin, and clear it of specific toxins.

A person needs to drink eight glasses of water a day. Water intake differs from person to person, depending on an individual's weight, diet, health, exercise routine and age. Thus it is important to consult your doctor to determine the appropriate amount of water you need to drink each day.

Water is important to keep the skin clean but excessive use of it will leave your skin dry. Harsh soaps, cleansers, chlorine in swimming pools and hot tubs may irritate the skin further. So, avoid using too much soap or staying in swimming pools and hot tubs for long. Even soaking in a bathtub for too long, may affect your skin (you know, the temporary `prune' toes and fingers look). The avoidance of SD alcohol 40 cleansers is essential, as alcohol tends to strip the skin of water.

Water not only stimulates circulation, but also regulates and controls the natural balance of the skin. Luke warm water will revitalise, hydrate, oxygenate and detoxify the skin thus making you feel both invigorated and relaxed, while replacing the essential moisture lost daily.

It is best to use lukewarm water for bathing and shampooing as very hot/cold water tends to dry and damage the skin and hair.

Taking care of the skin through internal means, involves a few different methods:

Eat the right foods so that your skin and the rest of your body can get its nutritional requirements to be healthy (get your doctor's advice, approval, and guidance for a healthy diet that meets your own personal requirements).

Get enough regular exercise for your body to help burn off unwanted fat, and to keep the circulatory system healthy for your skin and the rest of your body (get your doctor's advice, approval, and guidance prior to starting or changing any exercise routine or program).

Drink plenty of clean water (get your doctor's advice, approval, and guidance for how much clean water you need to drink daily that meets your own personal requirements).
