MEENA IN A SERIAL

Of late, big screen heroines have been making a foray into the small screen, and now it's Meena's turn to jump on the bandwagon. In her new avatar in and as Lakshmi, she plays a Brahmin girl who falls in love with a boy from the so-called lower caste. "Lakshmi" is being premiered today (July 24) on the 8.30 p.m. prime slot on Sun TV. Directed by Sundar. K. Vijayan, this family drama has an impressive star cast of Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, Devadarshini, Vijay Adhiraj, Aakash and `Malaysia' Vasudevan (as the villain). It looks like Sun TV has finally decided to do away with its film-based programmes on weekdays such as "Top Ten" (Tuesday), "Ungal Choice" (Thursday) and "Thirai Vimarsanam" (Friday) aired in the 8.30 p.m. slot. Now the channel will have continuous serials from 6.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m., except for Tamil news at 8 p.m.
