Calling all book lovers

Rare collections as well as a host of other events await enthusiasts at the West Rotary Book Fair

It is book carnival again in Coimbatore. Over 75 leading publishers, distributors and booksellers will take part in the West Rotary Coimbatore Book Fair 2006. The fair, happening for the 13th successive year, is being brought to the city by the West Rotary along with the West Club Trust, Bharathiar University and Avanashilingam Deemed University. It will be on at the Suguna Auditorium on Avanashi Road from July 29 to August 6. The major participants include Higginbothams, Cambridge University Press, Pustak Mahal, Orient Longman and National Book Trust.
Apart from displaying rare titles, events for children would also be organised at the book fair. Quiz programmes for school and college children will be held on August 2. The quizmaster is M. Rangarajan. A general quiz for school children will be conducted at 4.30 p.m. School students from Classes VII to XII can take part in the event. A school can send any number of teams and each team should have two participants. A quiz will also be conducted for college students at 5.45 p.m. Written prelims will be held for both school and college quiz.
Other events happening at the venue include a music, folk dance, drawing and cookery competition as well as a magic show, mini marathon and cycle race. For registration and other information, contact : 94430-69686.
