What's Malaika Arora Khan up to these days? Read on
|
YUMMY MUMMY In another item number
Malaika Arora Khan has been globetrotting and enjoying it. As she revels in all the attention, she admits that she has been lucky.
"Honestly, when I began my career, I never thought I would come this far. Everyone kept telling me that models and VJs don't last for more than a couple of years. Today, I feel proud to be referred to as an example for a successful VJ, dancer and a mom. I've given 100 per cent to whatever I've done. But there's also a huge luck factor that has helped."
Of late, she has been promoting a number of brands. Endorsements one too many?
"The more, the merrier," she says. "The number of endorsements and the kind of brands you are associated with is a barometer of success in showbiz. But seriously, I agree to endorse only after considering what value I'd be able to add to a brand. If a lesser-known brand gets more visibility because of me, it gives me a high. Money and mileage are perks."
Later this year, she will again be seen in a song sequence for a big banner film.
"Be it Chaiyya Chaiyya, Mahi Ve or Kaal Dhamaal, they've all been memorable," she says. Of these, Mahi Ve in Kaante was the tough one.
"Because, I was just getting back to work after my pregnancy. I wasn't sure of doing a pole dance. But my sister (Amrita Arora) and husband (Arbaaz Khan) goaded me to take it up. I knew I could carry it off but I needed to be reassured. Arbaaz was sure I wouldn't look vulgar."
Time manager
While select naach gaana numbers are up her alley, full-fledged roles aren't.
"I'm not keen on full-length roles because I don't want to stay away from my son Arhaan. I've learnt the art of time management performing in shows abroad or doing campaigns doesn't involve much time. Last year, I had my hands full with Naach Baliye too. I had a blast."
The only thing this mummy hates is the spotlight on her little son.
"I hate his pictures being splashed all over Page 3s. As a celebrity son he cannot escape it, but I'd prefer the spotlight not to be on him this early."
