A fund-raiser rally that's different on July 30
|
Horse Power brings horses and cars on one track. A horse show and a display of vintage cars will be part of the fun event (at YMCA Nandanam on July 30, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.) that seeks to raise funds for a couple of Rotary projects.
Organised by the Annets of The Rotary Club of Madras Southwest (District 3230), Horse Power will meld the new with the old, as vintage and classic vehicles belonging to the Madras Heritage Motoring Club will rub bumpers with the latest automobiles from the MPL Ford's and General Motors' stables. Horses will try to match the grace of these vehicles, as The Madras Riding School will conduct tent-pegging and equestrian competitions. International food and consumer product stalls, a live rock contest, children's fun and entertainment corner, arcade games and a fire cracker show are part of the one-day fete.
Proceeds from the event will fund the "One Lady Bread Winner" programme which will train 60 women from underprivileged families in nursing every year through The Rotary School Of Nursing (unit of Rotary Club of Madras South West Charitable Trust) and conduct free "tuberculosis screening camps" through Huma Shasun TB Care Project (unit of Rotary Club of Madras South West Charitable Trust). Donor passes are available at Landmark, Subway, FitnessOne, Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers (Spencer's), Prince Jewellery, Mehta Jewellery, MPL Ford, General Motors, Skullers (Spencer's), Body Focus, Naidu Hall, Fashion Folks and Special Editions.
