DIFFERENT APPROACH Vijay releases the audio and CD of "Pudhusa Irukku," and Charanraj receives it
Pudhusa Irukku marks the directorial debut of popular actor N. Y. Charanraj. Asked what was new about the film, produced by C. R. Creation, Charanraj said, "Everything! Right from the script to the audio, everything is new. While I was shooting, actor Vijay happened to be on the next set. I requested him to release the audiocassette and the CD of my film and he readily agreed. So, in an hour's time, the cassettes and the CDs were brought and released by Vijay, and I received them. From the word go, all went well with the production. This is a big venture for me, as I am in charge of the story, screenplay, music, direction and the production. Vijay listened to the audio and told me that all the songs were good."
Charanraj who has turned music director for the first time had virtually no idea what type of music would appeal to the audience. The first song in the album is "Iravaatha Varamai" written by Ezhil Mani and sung by Haricharan. It is basically a neat composition, and rendered well. "Engal Veetil" has two voices but only one name (Mahathi) is printed on the cassette jacket. Snegan's lyrics came in handy for Charanraj who made it a good number. Singer Grace who became popular with "Sirichi Sirichuvantha Seena Thana Doi" from "Vassoolraja MBBS" has sung "Ispate Raja Nee," written by Kadhal Mathi. The song has a folk flavour. If only the music director has used a pop rhythm, the song would have been more appealing.
On the second side, "Intha Ulagam" sung by Mahathi and written by Snegan could have been better. "Gentlemanai" written by A. V. Duraisahib and sung by Haricharan has good lyrics. The last number "Attam Podum Neramum," written by Ezhilmani and sung by Haricharan, Charanraj and Nirmala, has a good beat and is sure to be a hit with the masses.
