She's back; she's Opal `Meht'

Pirated versions of Kaavya's work is up for grabs

A pirated version of the book

Kaavya's Viswanathan's much talked about book, How Opal Mehta Got Kissed and Got a Life, may have been taken off bookshelves following a spate of controversy and accusations of plagiarism. But if you are really keen on laying your hands on her book out of curiosity, you will still find the copies, albeit pirated ones. The pirated copies come with the title How Opal Meht Got Kiss... Scan through the back cover of the book and you will see a fine print

"A Time Warner Oricinal." These pirated copies have been in circulation on the pavements of Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai for quite a while.

In Hyderabad, though you wouldn't find too many such copies conspicuously strewn on the pavement, you may spot a few copies after a careful hunt at the Abids Sunday book market.

The booksellers here refuse to divulge much and maintain that they have very few copies since the books are no more in circulation. The pirated version is being sold at a price of Rs. 100.

While on paperback books that adorn the pavements, The Da Vinci Code, Harry Potter series and The Lord of The Rings continue to be hot buys, priced between Rs 75 and 150.
